Today, the most efficient method to manage a guest list of over 1,000 at the door is to check them on a piece of paper as they come in and the next day have a person mark in UrVenue who came in.
We have tested digital checkin with various notebooks, iPods and even ID scanning, at some of the largest clubs, but they all added too much overhead compared to checking a printed guest list. Having a station to checkin guests works at smaller venues but not at large venues where you have numerous hosts with copies of the guest list walking people in.
Of all the systems we tried at large venues, the iPhone and Android interface with the finger scrolling were the most promising, the biggest drawback was the size of the screen.
We have the software to digitally check-in customers, the proper hardware for hosts to handle the check-in just doesn't exists, but that is about to change. Apple is getting ready to come out with a 10" iPod (iBook?), and Android is getting ported to larger screen (7" tablet prototypes are out), so when the hardware hits the market, you will be able to use tablets to check-in your customers.
